Jordan's primary gross insurance premiums increased by 11.4 per cent to $406.6 million by the end of December 2007, compared to $364.9 million recorded by the end of December 2006, the Insurance Commission of Jordan (IC) announced Monday.

Based on latest sigma report figures and estimates collated by Swiss Re, total life insurance premiums written in the Middle East and North Africa (MENA) region grew by 13.6% to US$3.3 billion in 2006 while non-life premiums increased by 16% to US$18.1 billion. The total figure of US$21.4 billion accounts for 0.58% of the total global insurance premiums.

(MENAFN - Jordan Times) AMMAN (Petra) — Insurance Commission (IC) Director General Basel Hindawi expects Islamic insurance premiums to grow by 20-25 per cent annually.
Speaking at the opening of the 1st MENA (Middle East and North Africa) CEO Insurance Summit held in Amman, Hindawi predicted 15 per cent annual growth for conventional insurance premiums.
